Family is the largest section here by a wide margin; several hundred stories, and more chapters than any other category in the archive. It is also the one where the messaging format does the most work, because these are stories about people who already share an address, a history and a group chat. The exposition every other genre has to write is simply assumed.
What that produces is a particular kind of tension. A thread between two people who see each other at breakfast cannot reset between chapters, so the pressure accumulates: what was said last night is still there this morning, and the reader watches both parties decide, message by message, whether to acknowledge it. The best family sexting stories in the archive are built almost entirely out of that hesitation, and the worst mistake the format allows is rushing it.
Chapters run a little longer here than the site average, around five per story, which suits a genre that works by accretion rather than by scene. Sorting by rating is the fastest way to the ones readers finished; sorting by chapter count finds the long-running threads, of which this category has more than any other.
